A family home on the Korapuzha, opened to guests so other people could enjoy the river the way we do.
The idea
Why a homestay, and why here
A homestay is a simple idea: you stay in someone's home, eat their food and get to know a place through the people who live there. That's what we wanted BelleVue to be, a home away from home rather than a hotel with a river view.
The house stands on the bank of the Korapuzha, also called the Elathur river. It's formed where two streams meet, the Akalapuzha and the Punoorpuzha, which come down from the Western Ghats through the Wayanad side of the district. By the time it reaches us it's wide and slow, and it carries on to the Arabian Sea at Elathur.
Ollur is an ordinary Malabar village, and that's the appeal. Paddy fields, old tharavad houses, temples that have been here for centuries, tall coconut palms and very little traffic. Guests who walk out of the gate in the morning usually come back with a story.
What we've built
Four guest rooms, each air-conditioned with its own bathroom. A private pool on a deck facing the river, a mini kids park, a deck for campfire and barbecue evenings, a small gym, a steam bath, a library shelf and a jetty with a thatched gazebo at the end. The garden runs along the bank and is full of fruit trees.
We also have an Ayurveda treatment room, home to our Ayurveda wellness program: consultation-based programmes in rejuvenation, detox, weight management and diet, plus yoga.
The people
Who looks after you
BelleVue is run day to day by a small local team led by Shigil, whose name comes up in a lot of our reviews. He'll meet you when you arrive, sort out drivers and boat trips, and make sure the kitchen knows what you like.
Our team is local, which helps when you want to know which temple festival is on, where to eat in Kozhikode, or which beach is calm enough for the kids that week.
We speak English, Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil.

You won't find a better homestay in Kozhikode! Bellevue offers amenities that are on par with a resort. Chef Muneera serves the most authentic and delicious Malabari cuisine.
We had a memorable stay at Belle Vue home stay with our 2 furries. The rooms were impeccable and clean. The view of the backwaters outstanding.
Very well maintained, super clean and riverside property offers one of the best stay with gym, pool and a small counter bar, barbecue/grill, music setup along with peaceful location.

The property itself is stunning view with beautifully maintained spice garden and fruit trees and very beautiful relaxing pool and gorgeous views.

The biryani and chicken 65, in particular, deserve special mention. The boat ride was a memorable highlight of our trip.
The property was beautiful and well maintained, but what made our stay truly special was the outstanding service provided by Mr. Shigil, the caretaker.
