Short answer: BelleVue is a small riverside resort-style homestay on the Korapuzha (Elathur) river at Koyilandy, Kozhikode. It has a private pool facing the river, its own jetty and gazebo, speedboat and canoe rides, a barbecue deck and an Ayurveda room, with only four guest rooms.
Why the river matters
Most of Kozhikode's resorts face the sea or sit in the hills. The rivers get overlooked, which is a shame, because the Korapuzha is one of the prettiest stretches of water in Malabar. It's wide and slow by the time it reaches us, lined with coconut palms, and still worked every day by fishermen in wooden country boats.
At BelleVue the river is right there. The garden runs along the bank, a jetty walks out over the water to a thatched gazebo, and the pool deck looks straight across to the far shore.
Things to do on the water
- Speedboat rides up and down the river with a local boatman. Life jackets provided.
- Canoeing along the bank, at your own pace.
- Fishing from the jetty, or a morning out with the fishermen.
- Houseboat cruises on the Korapuzha with local operators, including overnight trips.
- Sunset on the jetty, which costs nothing and is the thing most guests remember.
The resort part
A private swimming pool, only for people staying here, with loungers on a timber deck. A mini kids park. Campfire and barbecue evenings by the water. Pets welcome, at no extra charge. A steam bath and a small gym. An Ayurveda treatment room where you can book a massage or a full programme with a doctor. Free WiFi and parking. Meals cooked to order.
And what we're not
We're not a big resort, and we don't try to be. There's no restaurant full of strangers, no evening entertainment, no spa reception desk. If you want a buffet and a kids' club, there are good options on the coast. If you want a quiet pool, your own jetty and food from a home kitchen, you'll like it here.
